Endolith feed off of traces of iron, potassium, and sulfer. They either consume them directly, or excrete an acid to dissolve it before consumption. There is a very limited source, which reduces their reproduction cycle dramatically. According to recent studies, endolith only engage in cell division every few hundred years, making the generation time approximately 10,000 years. Most of their energy is spent on repairing personal physical damage, leaving very little energy for growth.
